Went to Galeries today to get the foodstuffs. There were so many ppl I quit. Rather spend 2.80 to go back on Monday. Today, I finally passed by the Bershka corner at Galeries, on the basement level (Version Originale). I'd been looking for it so long, and right there it is under my nose. Thanks a lot, Murphy. Didn't see the shoes I saw in Barcelona (shld've bought them there) but saw another pair, peeptoe wedges in pvc, nice~ but €50. Thanks again, Murphy.

Started packing last night. The suitcase is almost full. I still have abt 1/3 of my stuff not in the case. Hope it can close, don't want to send stuff back, so not worth it. Then there's cleaning to do. Ugh.

Chez MF en Champagne

Went to Marie-France's family home in Champagne, immense house it was, had a super large garden etc. Turns out that her ancestors were part of the petite bourgeoisie (middle-class) here in Esternay. The house was acquired before the Revolution. Loads of books, many dating from 1800s. There was one in particular that caught my eye: "La jeune femme catholique et française". Instructional book written by a member of the clergy expounding on the virtues that a young woman (catholic and french) should have, and behaviour blah blah etc. Was funny reading it, and also noted that the book looked super new for something published in early 1900, of course attesting to the fact that no one really read it. Hahaha. Books everywhere, in every room. Wish I'd had more time with MF tho, had to catch the last autocar to the station at 11am. Wanted to go to the producteur's to get a good bottle of champagne but too bad.
The room she let me have for the night there's a new mattress bed on the left and a large old-style bed on the right. This was at one end of the principal wing, there are 3 wings to the house. More like mansion.
Small dining room with old fireplace, the door leads to the kitchen
With Marie-France at breakfast
She and her German friends Odile and Ursula
On the 'autocar' (bus in fact) from Esternay, the small forgotten, "France profonde" village to the main train station at Chateau Thierry

Doomed to history

Oh no.. been seduced by the double major that the EU dept is offering - Honours for EU with a major in HY. The prob is, they announce it in my last year, to tempt/taunt.. I only have 1UE which is non-HY. And even if I do 6 mods per sem for the next 2 sems, I won't be able to obtain it. Considering doing special term for it tho. Waiting on Vani's reply.

In any case, to Zerm:

HY2206 China's Imperial Past 01/12 PM
HY2217 War and Society 30/11 AM
GEM2005/HY2243 Film and History NO EXAM
GEK2022 Geisha, Samurai and Yakuza as Self/Other 25/11 AM
EU4227A Major Political Thinkers: Rousseau 08/12 PM
EU4226 Imperialisms and Empires

Hopefully CORS is kind to a poor yr4 EU major.. *sniffles*

And so it ends...

And thus it all ends…

Went to the usual 1492 for the match with Stas n Luis today. Hiked frm Châtelet to Odéon nearest the resto. Got there at 8, which I thought was early, so was wondering what the ppl were rushing for n y St Germain des Près was so quiet. Then the match started. Ended up in a corner way back far from the screen, which was pretty small (normal tv size). Well, still good enough to see the scores in the first half.
The waitress wore an Italia Del Piero t-shirt, which is the same number as Zizu for France.

Then there was this one fierce Italia supporter, pretty obvious since she was more or less the only one who cheered when everyone else was miffed.

As overtime ended, the 3 of us were debating how the penalties would go since Henry was out, Ribery was out, Zidane took a rather spectacular header (earning him a red card plus the yellow he’d already gotten) ; super stress for Barthez (Barthez !!) and Buffon (who is not a buffoon, quite a good keeper actually). Italia comes along nicely with 3 greens to France’s 2 greens and a red. And then comes the deciding green for Italia and France’s no-goal. TANT PIS muahahahahahaha.

The whole world was SO disappointed, all wore stunned expressions. Not to mention Stas. See the diff ?
It was just too bad that France lost the World Cup. That Zidane went out on a red card. That they’d played well AT LAST (I wanted Brazil, then Portugal, to go thru) and didn’t make it. And all the time with the French screaming « ALLEZ LES BLEUS !!!!!», which ended rather ironically, I must say.

Glad to be back from Spain + Dublin!

Yesh! Back to my own room where there's nice bed, nice toilet nice shower and no stinky guys in the hostel room! Got home at 1plus this morning, and had to squeeze with all the idiots who were out celebrating France's selection for the finals. Those nuts were stomping ard in the metro itself! You'd think that humans were compressible the way they pushed their way on the metro. And I almost didn't make it out at the stop to change at, if not for a 'helping hand'. At least there was still metro home tho. Can't imagine if I'd to walk back from Porte Maillot (across Paris) or take a bus (and get stuck in a honking crowd of cars in which the crazy occupants were sticking the better part of their torsos out the windows making such a racket and waving the bleu-blanc-rouge abt).

Now my room is a mess, too drained and hot to do anything but shower and eat.. then slept.. Even then I went to bed at 4.30 when the sky was getting bright. Then this dumbo near my residence starts yelling ''Italia! Italia! Italia!" wonderful. Had to close my window in this heat.

Bought raspberries and mint leaves from the produce market today - shall steep in tea and add lotsa sugar~~ maybe chill it for a refresher.. AND WATCH ANIME!!!! yeh!! Time to take a look at the modules and plan. Somehow I get this niggling feeling that things don't add up.. And time to start packing already. Too much debris accumulated over the mths.
